Pasadena City Council

The Pasadena City Council met on Monday, March 8th. At that meeting they heard a report from City Treasurer Vic Erganian about the city’s pooled investment income, which totals $490 million. The city takes a very conservative investment position and seeks to ensure safety and liquidity of its funds. Returns on the invested funds were approximately 2.75%, which, given low interest and bond rates, is a healthy return. The Council also heard a report that recommends the Flintridge Foundation be selected as the institutional lead in youth violence prevention efforts and be given up to $50,000 to perform the task.

The City Council also approved imposing a 1% for arts requirement  on developments in Northwest Pasadena, similar to what is imposed on developers in other parts of the city. The Council also approved studying whether the ice rink at the Civic Center could be relocated to the tented exhibition space next to the Civic Auditorium.

LA County Board of Supervisors

The Supervisors deferred a hearing on closing a motel in East Pasadena until further review by the planning department and county counsel’s office.
