The U.S. House of Representatives passed the health insurance reform measure. It is expected the President will sign the bill today or tomorrow.
There will be some revisions required by the Senate, but the essential elements are in place and will be implemented over the next few years.
The bill requires health insurance be provided by companies of 50 employees or more, or institutes a penalty for non-compliance. The threshold for low income persons to be able to get coverage through Medicaid will be raised so more are covered.
The Chamber will be organizing a forum on the new legislation and what it means for business. Watch for details.
