Economic and Business Summit 2014, Pasadena Commerce newsletter, Pasadena Chamber event flyers

More than 150 business, community and civic leaders were at Brookside Golf Club for the second Economic and Business Forum. The event was a collaboration bewteen the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Chamber.

The event was emceed by Ben Green, Pasadena Board of Drectors chair and CEO of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. The program began with a video touting Pasadena as a destination for start-ups. Mayor Bill Bogaard provided remarks on the health of the City's finances and Pasadena's growth opportunities.

Featured Speaker Kimberly Ritter-Martinez gave an overview of the world, national, regional and local economies, noting that economic indicators and job projections are growing here and nationwide. Jerry McCall, COO of Kaiser Permanente, provided insights in the healthcare indistry, the Affordable Care Act and Kaiser's growth and expansion in Southern California.

Selme Hepp, economist with the California Association of Realtors, provided information on the housing market and challenges including low inventory (homes for sale) and young professionals not wanting to get into home ownership. Mike Ross of the Pasadena Center Operation Company priovided insights into the local hospitality industry and discussed upcoming events and activities at the Pasadena Convention Center.
