Memorial Day- a lot to remember

Today is Memorial Day. We have a lot to be thankful for and a lot of people to remember and thank.

My Dad serves as a Navy medical corpsman in World War II. He never saw action but he did care for a lot who did, on medical ships in Florida and Puerto Rico and at Walter Reed Hospital. He never talked about his service. Two of my uncles were Marines at the same time. Both flyers in the Pacific. Two others were in the Army. My cousin served in Vietnam as did a number of friends. My neighbor's son served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan with the Marines. Friends old and new served, sacrificed and came home.

Many other people's sons, daughters, fathers, uncles and friends did.

Today, let's take a moment to remember that untold people who have paid for our freedom and way of life with their lives. Celebrate the years they spent erving our country and safeguarding us and our families.

Also please take a moment to remember those who have lost their lives to the Coronavirus. Especially those health care workers who sacrificed their own heath and safety to care for others.

Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve us all.
