Community Bank has advice to avoid pfishing and other security threats to your data and computer: Always pay attention to emails or companies asking for information or to click on a link--trace how you're actually affiliated with this person or company, and if what they're requesting lines up with recent activities. For example, if you get a paycheck email at an unusual time, or a returned package notification when you haven't sent anything recently, that should be a red flag.
- Keep your anti-virus program up-to-date at all times.
- Invest in an anti-spam application that will screen out most of these emails.
- Conduct training with your employees and contractors, explaining what to look for and what to do if they suspect something is wrong.
- Always use security tokens (i.e., key fobs) to access your line accounts.
Finally: don't click on hyperlinks or open attachments in a suspicious email! Better safe than sorry.

Pasadena Heritage members, friends and visitors will have more opportunities to tour Pasadena’s original downtown. New for 2013, the Old Pasadena Walking Tour is being offered monthly on the first Saturday of each month. Old Pasadena is now a premier shopping and dining destination, but was once a blighted, under-utilized area. Without Pasadena Heritage, it would have been demolished! When founded 35 years ago, saving Old Pasadena was a top priority. Now it is one of the finest examples of downtown revitalizations in the country. As you wander Old Pasadena with one of the trained docents, you will find many beautiful and unusual details. During the research process, it was discovered that the old alleyways had remained virtually unchanged since Pasadena’s earliest days. Some alleyways even retain their historic signs, which are protected today. First Saturdays in 2013: May 4, June 1, July 6, August 3, September 7, October 5, November 2, and December 7.

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens is mounting a special exhibition, “Cultivating California: Founding Families of the San Marino Ranch” (on view Feb. 16 through May 13 in the West Hall of the Library), timed to correspond with the centennial year of the city of San Marino, Calif. With more than 75 historical items drawn from The Huntington’s collections and those of the San Marino Historical Society and the Pasadena Museum of History, the exhibition tells the story of the Wilson, Shorb, and Patton families, who helped transform a region of one-time Spanish land grants into an agricultural paradise between the years 1854 and 1904. Rare family photographs, letters, legal documents, maps, and artifacts will be on display.
This spring, The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens will present a major exhibition exploring a colorful and captivating aspect of California’s natural history: its wildflowers. “When They Were Wild: Recapturing California’s Wildflower Heritage,” on view March 9–June 10 in the MaryLou and George Boone Gallery, will showcase more than 300 items—drawings, paintings, herbarium specimens, and other objects—that trace the journey of California’s plants from the flower fields into the home garden.
