Brews news from Stone Company Store in Pasadena

At Stone Company Store Pasadena, we equally revere ALL Stone Brewing Co. beers, even the ones we have on draft 365 days a year, as they are all most definitely out-of-the-ordinary. With that said, occasionally we are able to offer full-on extraordinary beers, i.e., ones that are rare, one-off, vintage, barrel-aged, experimental, etc. Generally, we have one of these "specialty" draft beers come online every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with a "specialty" bottle release every Sunday. Here's a small sample of the extraordinary beers headed our way in the next couple weeks.

Note: for all to-go beer (e.g., growlers, bottles, kegs), everyone in your party must be 21+ and in possession of valid, government-issued ID.

One keg of gracefully aged 2013 Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine comes online today for growler fills & in-house pours. With age comes mellowed bitterness, integrated malt flavors, and less “booziness.” In short, it is a supremely elegant beer. Limit up to 2 liters per customer for growler fills.

A brand-new draft offering from our small-batch brewhouse hits us today, called Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberandos Gold. A palate-friendly golden ale, brewed in honor of WWII B-52 pilots (appropriately, said planes were built in San Diego), it delivers flavor without aggressive bitterness. No limits on growler fills.

Friday, November 20

Two non-traditional holiday beers, Stone Enjoy By 12.25.15 IPA (draft & bottles) & Stone Enjoy After 12.25.16 Brett IPA (750 mL bottles only), make their debut today. One is a hop-blasted double IPA, meant to be enjoyed as fresh as possible; the other is its nearly-identical twin (aside from the yeast strain used to ferment it; Brettanomyces fermentation results in all kinds of delicious & bizarre funkified flavors), intended to be aged for a year before popping. No purchase limits on either beer.

Sunday, November 22

The newest member of our Stochasticity Project series, a lineup of beers created in the spirit of experimentation & guided by the principle of “why-the-heck-not?”, is unleashed upon the public today. The name of the beer is still under wraps at the time of this publication, but we CAN say that it is jam-packed with all kinds of specialty grains, making it cereal-like & malty, while still maintaining bitter-sweet balance.

Monday, November 23

“Dessert beer” can sometimes mean cloying sweetness & palate-exhausting heftiness, but with Juli Goldenberg/Monkey Paw/Stone 24 Carrot Golden Ale, we totally defied that expectation. It’s a Belgian-style golden ale brewed with carrot juice, raisins, and spices in order to mimic the flavors and aromas of carrot cake! This non-dessert-y dessert beer comes back on tap starting today. In addition, Stone Barrel-Aged Brown Ale w/Balaton Sour Cherries, a mildly tart, wine barrel-aged Belgian abbey ale, returns for growler fills & tasters today.

Tuesday, November 24

Both Stone 20th Anniversary Encore Series: 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale (re-brew of 2008’s Stone Vertical Epic Ale: a Belgian-style strong golden ale) and Stochasticity Project Your Father Smelt of Elderberries (an ancient ale that deliciously defies style classification, but does strongly feature elderberries & smoked malt) are available on draft once more starting today. No limits on growler fills of either.

Wednesday, November 25

In the lead-up to Thanksgiving, we’re spoiling our fans rotten with specialty beers, to ensure that everyone can bring something special to the feast table. Today we’re releasing three all-star brews: 2015 Double Bastard Ale, 4 Hands/Bale Breaker/Stone Sorry Not Sorry IPA, and Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station Cimmerian Portal w/Raspberries (the base beer is a rich foreign export stout). No growler fill limits on any of these.

Thursday, November 26

We will be CLOSED for Thanksgiving. Normal business hours are in effect Wednesday (11 AM - 9 PM) and Friday (11 AM - 10 PM).

Friday, November 27

Today we are lavished with more kegs of Stone Xocoveza for the Holidays & the New Year, a re-brew of our insanely popular spiced mocha stout. Essentially a Mexican hot chocolate turned into a beer, it is very much the quintessential winter-time sipper. No limits on growler fills.
