Pasadena, September 25, 2015:  Spend a day admiring hot rods, classic rides, awesome trucks, vintage motorcycles,  antique fire trucks and

operating fire rigs at Wheels on Fire Classic Car Show on October 24 at Pasadena’s Brookside Golf Club with automotive reporter Dave Kunz of ABC 7 as emcee.

Special moments will be created as LA County Fire Department helicopters will fly over the show at 9:15AM, and LA City Fire Department helicopters will fly over at 10AM.

In addition, active fire engines from Pasadena and LA County will be on display.  Attendees can enjoy classic barbeque and grill cheese from Robin’s Wood Fire BBQ, a Pasadena institution for 30 years and relax at the beer and wine garden. There will also be an opportunity for “Photos with Firefighters”, meet the vendors and the Children’s Activity Area makes this a family-friendly event.

SPECIAL FUNDRAISER:  6 year-old Donovan Taylor tragically lost both his parents (father was L.A. County Firefighter and mother was L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy) on Sunday, September 6, 2015.  Thankfully Donovan is in the loving care of his grandparents, but he needs financial help.  Fire Family Foundation, in partnership with L.A. County Fire Department has established the Donovan Comfort Fund to help cover costs of his care and future.  At Wheels on Fire Kids Craft area, the NOZZLEHEADS Books by firefighter TJ Spencer will be on sale with proceeds benefiting the Donovan Comfort Fund”.

“Pasadena Fire Department will be at the Car Show with its trucks and fire rigs.  Plus our own Local 809 Firefighters will be cooking for the car show exhibitors.  As the Fire Department is an active part of the community, this event is a great chance for families to meet some of the best firefighters in Pasadena,” says Lisa Derderian, Pasadena Fire Department Public Information Officer and Board Member, Fire Family Foundation.

Emcee Dave Kunz is the Eyewitness News Automotive Specialist as well.  His on-camera work makes ABC7 the only station in Southern California with a dedicated reporter covering the automotive beat.  He also emcees other vintage car shows such as Newport each Concours d’Elegance, the Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance and the ArtCenter Car Classic in Pasadena.  Sponsors include CSE Insurance Group, Firefighters Insurance Services, Hagerty & Autoland.  Media Sponsor:  PasadenaNow.com

“This event is a great family opportunity with cars and fire trucks and firemen.  As it supports Fire Family Foundation, the event will help raise funds for the many fire victims and firefighters who have faced tragedy and destruction this year.  Right now we are raising funds for Middletown Fire and the need is tremendous with hundreds of homes lost and so many lives forever changed,” explains Robin McCarthy, Executive Director, Fire Family Foundation.

The car show is sponsored by Fire Family Foundation, which is the charitable hand of Firefighters First Credit Union.  Proceeds from the event benefit the Foundation that assists firefighters, their families and fire victims throughout California.  The Foundation is currently helping Firefighter Damien Pereira who was critically injured earlier this year fighting a wild land fire.  A limb fell on him and the 27-year old is paralyzed from the waist down.  As well, the Foundation is  accepting donations  for a relief fund for victims of the devastating fires in Northern California.
