With your help, we will honor one of our community's many outstanding teachers by presenting them with the title of TEACHER OF THE YEAR.
Nominate your favorite teacher by telling us why they deserve this award: Have they made a difference in your life? Have they inspired your love of reading? Do they go beyond the call of duty in their job? Do they make learning fun? Whatever the reason, tell us why your teacher deserves this special recognition.
Want to nominate a local teacher? • Send us a typed or handwritten essay of 500 words or less. (Must be legible.)

A Noise Within is delighted to be the first regional theater in Southern California to offer access to closed captioning at select performances using GalaPro.
The GalaPro app (available on iOS and Android devices) provides closed captions for patrons to view on their own mobile devices. GalaPro operates on a closed internal network via “airplane mode,” preventing sounds, texts and emails from disturbing other patrons during use.
The service was rolled out at A Noise Within during closing weekend of the company’s most recent production, King Hedley II. Audience member Virlyn Grant, who lives with hearing loss, was able to give it try.
GalaPro is available at A Noise Within thanks to funding from the Perenchio Foundation. Audiences will be able to experience GalaPro during performances of Misalliance on Saturday, June 8 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m.

Stars of stage and screen will illuminate the night sky when the Pasadena Symphony and POPS presents its annual free Music Under the Stars concert on Saturday, June 1 at Pasadena City Hall’s Centennial Square. Presented with sponsorship support from Bank of America, Music Under the Stars will brings Pasadena’s premiere orchestra free to the community for one night only. This year’s concert brings back the Best of Broadway with popular favorites from West Side Story, The Music Man, Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Wicked and more legendary musicals. Hear “Mambo,” “Trouble,” “Memory,” “Music of the Night,” “Seasons of Love” and more from Gershwin, Sondheim all of your favorite musicals. It’s a Broadway celebration that you and your family won’t want to miss.
The family fun begins at 6:00pm with picnicking, food trucks and the return of Kids Korner. Kids can enjoy free face painting, balloon animals and a musical instrument petting zoo, where people of all ages can discover the wonder of creating their own music with the instruments of the orchestra. Families who arrive early will also be treated to a special performance by Bob Baker Marionette Theater at 7:00pm.
