SCORE Los Angeles is hosting an event in Pasadena June 8th to help small businesses get sub contracts on governmental projects.
The Community Redevelopment Act (CRA) requires primes to spend a certain % on local small businesses. There are websites that small businesses need to register. The Primes will go to these sites to find sub contracts.

The Altadena Talks Foundation launches of the 2026 Altadena Community Wellness & Recovery Series.
The five-event community initiative designed to support wellness, recovery, rebuilding, and community connection following the Eaton Fire. The series will bring together residents, nonprofits, wellness providers, local businesses, sponsors, city and county agencies, and recovery-focused organizations to provide resources, services, information, and community engagement opportunities throughout 2026.

Gold Runner News:
For aviation buffs: On May 23rd, Gold Runner riders get free admission to the Castle Air Museum in Atwater with purchase of a Gold Runner ticket.
Gold Runner will celebrate Juneteenth with special trains to Allensworth on June 13th, 2026. Allensworth is the first municipality in California that was founded, funded, and governed by Black people.

Each Friday morning following our monthly networking events, Vicki Knight (of Century Sewer, Drain and Plumbing) and Jesus Pimentel (of OnCore Solar and REIN H2O) organize an informal meet and greet on the Friday morning following our networking events. They meet at 7:30am at Rosebud Coffee at Sierra Madre and Colorado (2302 E. Colorado). There is no cost, you just have to buy something from Rosebud.
