Are You a Restaurateur in LA County? Learn About the County’s Permanent Outdoor Dining Ordinance Implementation

LA County is launching an education and awareness campaign as part of the County’s Permanent Outdoor Dining Ordinance implementation. This ordinance enables restaurants and bars in the unincorporated areas to expand their capacity with outdoor dining, a crucial step approved by the Board on January 9, 2024, and effective since February 8, 2024.

The LA County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), in collaboration with Public Works, Public Health, and Regional Planning, is leading the DineOut LA County campaign. Through educational sessions across unincorporated areas, we aim to guide businesses on expanding onto sidewalks, parklets, alleyways, or private property.

Attendees at DineOut LA County events can learn about:

  • Application process and online submission

  • Permitting fees

  • Public Health permit requirements

  • Enforcement and compliance

Please help us spread the word by sharing the DineOut LA County flyer (attached) and upcoming sessions' details. More information is available at Dine Out - LA County Public Works, and you can register for sessions on Eventbrite at LA County Dine Out Tickets, Multiple Dates | Eventbrite. We have also created a social media toolkit with digital assets for each of the sessions.

This campaign will also soon introduce the Community Serving Economic Opportunity (CSEOP) program, offering small businesses a concierge experience in navigating outdoor dining permits and EPIC LA permits. We will be providing more information on the CSEOP in the coming weeks.
